The sessions will consist of a tax update and special topic.
Attendees will be updated on recent tax issues and learn about the practical impact of recent tax changes. You’ll also learn how to apply the changes in a client context and discover how to recognise planning opportunities as a result.

- Why a tax agent’s failing to attend to their own taxation affairs is viewed as a breach of professional conduct
- How a tax agent who has always acted for a couple can manage a conflict of interest when dealing with the taxation affairs of one of them after the couple divorces
- Why an accountant cannot act as an auditor of their own SMSF
Lynne Gibson

Lynne had over 25 years’ experience in public practice in Chartered Accounting firms before joining the tax training industry. Advising a diverse range of clients in most industries means she has the ideal experience and expertise that allows her to provide relevant and practical examples in her interesting presentations.
She has managed clients’ affairs, delivered tax advice and been responsible for staff development and training as a partner in a Sydney CBD Chartered Accounting practice. Before becoming a partner Lynne worked to a senior level in a number of public accounting practices including a Big 4 CA practice, advising in taxation, audit and accounting matters to a diverse range of clients including many family groups and corporate clients covering many industries. Lynne also has professional affiliations at a senior level.
Michael Bode
Senior Tax Trainer, TaxBanter
Michael has over 20 years’ experience in public practice with Chartered firms including 6 years at Deloitte in tax advisory, 3 years as lead tax advisor for a large financial planning firm and 3 years as head of the national tax consulting division at Prosperity Advisers. Prior to this Michael worked in business services in mid-sized Chartered practices. Having commenced with legal training and practice he gravitated naturally to his love of tax law, advice and team training.
Michael has a broad range of experience covering tax issues and practical compliance for individuals, small business, listed companies and multinationals across a wide spectrum of industries. His extensive work managing tax controversy matters and government submissions, coupled with his business service experience and passion for tax law allows him to provide significant colour and context to his training.
